Sue and I were first introduced to Shir Shalom about 35 years ago when we bought a home in Woodstock. At that time, the Congregation was small and met in the farmhouse that now hosts our religious school. We attended our first Shir Shalom Shabbat dinner at the Masonic Temple in Woodstock.
From the start, we were impressed with how warm and welcoming everyone was to these new arrivals and their two young daughters. Over the years, both Sue and I have become more involved in helping Shir Shalom grow and attract members of all ages and life styles . Highlights of our participation have been welcoming Rabbi Haigh to be our spiritual leader and helping a grateful donor obtain a Holocaust Torah for Shir Shalom which has become the basis of an annual Holocaust educational series. Sue and I have grown to love this place and this Congregation. Today, we consider Shir Shalom our synagogue and Rabbi Haigh our Rabbi.
We are delighted to be able to help ensure that Shir Shalom will continue to play an important role in the Upper Valley for people seeking a warm, caring and welcoming synagogue. L’Dor V’Dor-from one generation to another- is an inspiring concept that describes the dynamics and evolution of Shir Shalom from its birth in 1988 to the present day. We urge others to follow us in creating a legacy for Shir Shalom.
